Solid Ash Coffee Table

This is the latest project finished. A solid ash coffee table, made with through mortice and tenon joints. The table top has an inserted replica road sign of Oxford Street, W1 and is covered with glass. There are teak square plug inserts to the top edges, ends and sides. This idea was taken from several Green and Green Bros designs, from the turn of the 1900's. Hope you like it.
The table will be delivered to London, early next month.  #oxford street #coffee table

Wood fire surround

Tomorrow the last piece of the fire surround is being delivered. The stainless steel hood, to sit below the under mantle. When this is finally fitted pictures will be put up on this blog and of course added to the web site. Keep on watching  to see the final result.

By all means get all your friends to join the blog, because it is a bit lonely, me making comments to myself. I am starting to feel like Billy-no-Mates.

Ash burr bowl

This is an ash burr bowl, made from a tree that had to be felled on the Achnacarry estate, near Spean Bridge. The burr has grown over the tree life span of 70 plus years and was caused by red deer nibbling the young shoots around the base. Two of these shoots were left on the bowl to complete the story of the wood.

The completed Armchair with the Harris Tweed cushions made by Isabel Service in Invergarry.

Some pictures of the last piece we made, a Gustav Stickley design armchair (the forerunner of the Big Lazy Boy chair) from the early 1900's.

A friend locally is now upholstering the cushions in Harris Tweed
